Ridgeway Scientific Advisory is led by Sheila Adams-Sapper, PhD, an independent scientific advisor and senior bioinformatics scientist with deep expertise in biologically complex health systems where evidence is incomplete and decisions carry meaningful downstream risk.
Sheila’s research foundation spans microbiology, infectious disease, immunology, and epidemiology, with particular depth in microbial functional genomics, microbiome analysis, RNA-seq, and building whole-genome sequencing pipelines. Her work has included biomarker evaluation, mechanistic interpretation, and translational feasibility assessment, including the application of machine learning approaches to evidence integration and target prioritization.
Sheila brings nearly a decade of experience in an early-stage biotechnology company developing non-antibiotic, microbiome-based therapeutic candidates for complex respiratory infections with applications across human and animal health. This work has involved operating within a proprietary discovery environment integrating high-resolution genomic analysis, internally developed machine-learning models, and targeted in vitro assays to evaluate immune activation and pathogen inhibition in respiratory tissues. The company’s pipeline has included candidates addressing both viral and bacterial infectious diseases, supported by preclinical in vivo data across multiple species and exploratory field-based studies. This experience provides practical insight into how early-stage scientific evidence evolves within real discovery and development environments.
This combination of deep technical training and hands-on experience in translational R&D informs Sheila’s advisory perspective. Her work emphasizes scientific judgment grounded in evidence quality, biological variability, and real-world development constraints—supporting leadership teams as they navigate feasibility, positioning, and high-stakes scientific decisions.
